

Bursa is a city in northwestern Turkey and lies on the lower slopes of Uludag , Mount Olympos of Mysia , 2440 m. The city derived its name from its founder in the antiquity named Prusias , king of Bithynia.
During the history , Bursa was a major city , located on the famous Silk Road and was the first capital of the ottoman empire.
With a population of 1,5 million , it is Turkey ‘s fourth largest city. Known as “Green Bursa “ , the city , is filed with gardens and parks and overlooks a verdant plain. It is a center of an important fruit growing region and was and is still , famous for its silk trade , towel manufacture and thermal springs.
Bursa is the center of the Turkish automobile industry, where FIAT and RENAULT have located their factories , as well as textile and food industries where Coca Cola and many canned food factories are present in the city’s organized industriel zones. Traditionally Bursa was famous with its fertile soil and agricultural activities , which are decreasing due to the heavy industrialization of the city.
The city is also a major tourist attraction and the best and largest winter sports center of Turkey is located at Uludag , thirty-six km. from Bursa , which offers a variety of activities , accomodation and entertainment.
Bursa has excellent road connections with others bigs cities. It has , a sea port on the sea of Marmara , the small town of Mudanya, 20 km. northwest.

BURSA
The Great Mosque is located in the commercial center of the town , next to the covered bazaar and silk manufacturer’s bazaar .Built at the end of the 14th century , this mosque is a interesting example of the early ottoman architecture with 20 domes and adorned with superb calligraphic ornamentation .
Ulu Camii (The Great Mosque):
There is also a fountain (sadirvan) inside the mosque where worshippers can perform ritual ablutions before prayer; the dome over the fountain is capped by a skylight , creating a soft , serene light below. The pulpit of this mosque is considered to be a masterpiece of woodworking.
Yesil Camii (The Green Mosque) and
Yesil Türbe (The Green Mausoleum)
The distict called Yesil (Green) is an important part of town with its turquoise colored mosque and mausoleum which where build during the sultan Mehmet I period , in the beginning of 15th century. The tomb of Mehmet I is inside the Yesil Türbe. Mehmet I is considered to be the second founder of the otoman state as he re-established the empire after the invasion of the Mongolians ruled by Tamerlane in the 15th century. The Yežil Türbe is attractive with its ceramics, interior decoration ans woodwork on its doors. The small mosque accross the mausoleum is a fine example of marble workmanship and glazed tiles. The Yesil Mosque is called the “Jewel of Bursa “ because of its beauty , both inside and out.
Mausoleum of Osman - Orhan :
The two mausoleum belong to the founders of the Ottoman empire , Osman Bey and his son , the conqueror of Bursa , Orhan Bey. They are located in a terrace with a magnificent view of Bursa and beyond.
Muradiye Complex :
The Muradiye complex contains the cemetery for many Ottoman Sultans and Princes who were buried in a poetic garden in the shade of 1000 years old plane trees and the Muradiye mosque which was build next to this beautiful cemetery of 15th century.

Cumalikizik Village :
Cumalikizik Village is located in 10 kilometers west of Bursa , at the foot of the Mount Uludag. Its history goes back to the Ottoman Empire’s foundation period. The historical textures have been well protected and the civilian countryside architectural structures of early Ottoman period have been successful at remaining undamaged until today.
Because of this caracteristic, the Cumalikizik has been the center of the population that is most attractive to the poeple and a frequently visited place. They are also a lot of movies that have often been recorded in the village about historical themes.
The villages which are placed close together between the foot of Mt. Uludag and the valleys have been called Kizik - In Turkish the name stands for one of the twenty-four clan of Oghuz Turks - and the people from other villages also called Kizik such like Degirmenlikizik, Derekizik, Hamamlikizik called the village Cumalikizik , because they had been gathering for ritual of worship on Fridays in this village and in Turkish friday means Cuma. In the village’s square, there is a museum called Cumalikizik ethnography museum where the historical objects belongs to the village has been exhibited. In the village, raspberry festival is held on junes.
In Cumalikizik there are totally 270 historical houses, some of these houses are in proces of restoration and maintenance. 180 of them are still being used as dwelling.
